After more than five years of solid architectural experience, Mr. Walker wanted to have more influence on the practice of architecture and mentoring, so he began his own practice in December 1998.  He provides architectural design services to various clients in CA, MI and NC.

His extensive knowledge of architecture, AutoCAD and professional project management, which we taught for two years at ITT Technical Institute in Santa Clara, CA and for one year at Ohlone College in Fremont, CA, allows him to provide training and consultation to his clients and other architectural offices that utilize AutoCAD Architectural Software Applications. He also writes office standards manuals for architectural offices regarding the maintenance and standardization of architectural drawings and data files.

He served as Associates Director for the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the AIA where he was responsible for establishing the study group for the architectural registration examination and the mentoring program. He also served as the Northern California State IDP Coordinator where he was responsible for the education and implementation of the Intern Development Program (IDP) for architectural firms in Northern California. He is currently seeking to become active as a Board Member in the local AIA Charlotte office.

Mr. Walker is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and is currently licensed to practice architecture in the states of Nevada, Michigan, and North Carolina.

Statement: I want to strengthen the relationship between interns, architecture students and design professionals by continuing to close the gap between formal education and professional practice through mentoring. I believe the Internship Development Program (IDP) plays an important role in developing this relationship. I plan to focus on encouraging architects in supporting interns and architecture students in the transition from formal education to professional registration. I will continue down the current path of internship licensing activities and create new programs to assist interns and architecture students in becoming licensed professionals.

My love for learning and teaching/mentoring is the reason I want to serve on the Board for The Illumination Youth Empowerment Corporation.
